Sharepoint Documents Questions
I am running ms sharepoint and they all have blackberry 8830's

I was looking through the sourcecode generated by sharepoint and there is this snippet

if (browseris.mac && !browseris.ie5up)
{
var ms_maccssfpfixup = "/_layouts/1033/styles/owsmac.css";
document.write("<link rel='stylesheet' Type='text/css' href='" + ms_maccssfpfixup + "'>");
}

is there a way to make a new view like this, so when blackberry users comming to the site, it detects they are blackberry browsers and changes the stylesheets accordingly?
Is it possible to use a function similiar to AutoCorrect to automatically format a certain word into a given Font, Style and colour

(e.g. every time I write "SharePoint" it will apply the Arial Font make "Share" bold and black and "Point" Italic and Blue - regardless of the font throughout the rest of the document .)

I would prefer for this to happen automatically as I type - but would be happy to use some sort of macro at the end (I don't know how to write macros though!)

I use the following versions: MS Office Word 2003 and MS Office Outlook 2003.

Thanks for your help (Let me know if you need any more information)
I'm currently trying to manage a large spreadsheet that gets sent out to a team of people every day by a uploading/downloading via a Sharepoint site. Each person modifies a different section of the document, then uploads their copies. Since the document started out as one Shared Workbook, and I turned "protect shared workbook" on, I can merge most of the users' workbooks back into one. For some reason, two users always return their spreadsheets with Sharing and Track Changes turned off (in spite of it being 'protected'). They swear they aren't messing with the spreadsheet except to add data to their assigned cells, and they've tried emailing the files back instead of using the Sharepoint. Could their computer or version of Excel somehow be disabling Shared Workbooks? I'm using Excel 2003, but if they had an old version, could this be deleting the change history/unsharing the workbook when they open the file? Thanks in advance!
Im making a windows application to upload docs to a sharepoint server, and i have mapped the server as a network drive. Now when i try and access it through my application, i get an error...
'Access to the path x:\ is denied'

here is some sample code for what im doing

WebClient client = new WebClient();
client.Credentials = new NetworkCredential("username", "password");

try
{
client.UploadFile(@"x:\Shared Documents",
@"c:\Users\Alex\Documents\MyTest.txt");
label1.Visible = true;
}
catch (Exception ex)
{
MessageBox.Show(this, "Error: " + ex.Message);
}
If you use a content management system for web publishing (Joomla,Sharepoint,ect) is there metadata automatically associated with the link to the document? If not are search engines such as google able to crawl to the documents themself to pull the metadata for indexing?
I run a small businesses, I would like to be able to set up a way for my users to access a web-based application, or whatever so they can download documents and/or applications. Microsoft Sharepoint seams to much for what i need, Like I said I just have Files, documents, applications I would like anyone on my network to view, and ideas of what to do?? Thanks
Example : Sharepoint, MyDMS, KnowledgeTree....

I am looking for a stable and economic DMS (document management system) that works in the web (internet enabled). It doesn't mather if it's Open Source or Commercial. I need some advice on it.
Hi I have been given the task of finding out what happened to some missing documents uploaded in to sharepoint. We are using Sharepoint 2003

I mapped a drive in to a sharepoint site and I moved some documents from one site to another site shared document.

user rang up later and complained that the documents are missing from the folder we moved them to.

now I can not find where the documents are.

The problem is

1) How can find these missing documents.

I have mapped to the the top site and then using windows explorer searched the entire site tree and I can not find the documents.

2) I want to know if I somehow we can get a track of what happened to the document either using sharepoint or even going in to the database and see some table that can tell us if the document was deleted, moved etc and by who. Is this possible.
i was able to save chages to documents on my sharepoint services but now that is not possible. they all appear as read-only.
Just want something simple with a little document management.
alright. i dont think this is going to be very easy to explain, but i will do my best.

So i am trying to develop something in Sharepoint, a webased sort of...information gatherer.

I already have on in Excel. It is 5 columns... people fill in the issues to be discussed at our meetings.

but people seem to not like having to "check out/in" and download something off sharepoint when they want to use it.

So i thought i woudl try to make a web based "form" but forms seem to be too much work (no front page or anything here)

So my friend had the idea that i should try to make a survey and make each *column* of the *excel* document, into a *question*

this worked actually better than i thought it would. entering data was a breeze. but this is the problem

i need to make it so that everyone can see *all* the answers easily. there is downloading it (too much work) viewing each individual answer, and viewing the % or what ever.

*see details*
Hey guys. I'm new to Sharepoint and I'm trying to learn it by playing around with it. I was just wondering how do I go about creating a custom document library with custom columns? A link to a tutorial or other helpful articles would be much appreciated. Thanks.
I work for a relatively small engineering and sales company with about 30 employees in-house (lots of traveling) and we also work with many vendors and contract engineer companies. It will likely always be about this size.

We are looking at Microsoft SharePoint Server 2007 with Office Suite 2007 as a possibility to tie together all of our departments under one roof:

- Document Control
- Workflow Management
- Project Management
- Team task tracking
- Sales' client relations management
- Order workflow
- Inventory and shipping management
- HR employee data
- Accounting and payroll
- Automated reports
- Strong access control
- Practically 'hand-holding' employees through many processes to enforce company standards

We are looking for reviews on the product for those areas. Any articles or personal experience, especially from a professional or IT point of view?

Thank you!
SharePoint or Expression Web? He used to have Frontpage. The Website featured a bunch of archived documents, plus a few photos and MP3 files. He might want to run a Blog too. I'm not sure.
Do you think SharePoint will change your ECM strategy in the future, as it relates to the processing and management of documents?
