I am a network admin and I have 2 users who need to work on the same Excel 2003 file at the same time and make various changes to it. Right now, if one person has it open and the other tries to open it, it will open a read only copy that the other user is not allowed to change.
I was looking at sharepoint server and was inquiring as to if it was capable of letting them both work on it at the same time and not losing eithers data when they save it.

I've been tasked with creating a site where people can post Employee of the Month nominations, and also vote on their favorite candidate, and then display the results. This happens on a monthly basis, and I would like to automate as much as possible. Any ideas?

I have joined a company that uses Sharepoint 2003 to show some data online like cubes, dashboards and certain data.
The site is publicly available (anonymous access, no individual accounts), but when it's time to update the site's content, i've been told, the admin needs to disable the anonymous access (the site now prompts for user/pwd) and restarts the webserver -- all these in order to be able to log-in as admin and update the content. After the site is updated, the admin switchs again to anonymous access and the webserver is restarted.
Is this the way to do it? The admin hasn't found a way to log-in as an admin (and be able to update content) without having to restart the web server - the idea is not to interrupt the service while updating our contents.
The admin says the sharepoint site won't allow him to log-in as an admin (using a web browser) when the site is set to allow anonymous access.
Any ideas?
